Splitscreen: A Love Story

I could watch this video by James W Griffiths over and over and over again.  The way the split screens line up and the fact that it takes place in 3 of my favorite cities will never get old.  While you watch it, keep in mind that it was shot entirely on a Nokia N8 mobile phone.  It's jawdroppingly impressive:

happy birthday to me!

Since today is my birthday (it's true!), I'm going to do whatever I want.  Okay, not really. I still have to go to work.  But if I didn't, I would still wake up early and eat a delicious breakfast oh, so slowly.  Taking time to watch as the morning sun filtered in through my window.  I would refill my mug with piping hot coffee at least 10 times, being sure to savor every sip.   After that, I'm not really sure what I would do. But whatever I came up with would be great.

Anyway, in honor of it being my birthday, I think you should all start the day pretending it's your birthday too! That way we can all feel special together :)  Deal? Good.

happy valentines day!

To be honest, I'm not the hugest fan of Valentine's Day, but this little whale was so cute, I couldn't resist sharing. So, Happy Valentine's Day!   I hope your day is more exciting than a box of chocolates.  Although I guess that is what life is like...EESH there's a reason why I never quote movies.  #epic fail

Sorry to get that song stuck in your head! But, TOMORROW Dan and I leave for Portland, Maine for the weekend! I'm so excited. I might pop. Check out my post today at The Loud and Clear for my idea of 72 perfect hours in that great city.

doloris petnunia jewelry

Doloris Petunia makes the coolest jewelry.  Granted most of it is wayyy out of my price range, but I'll just pretend that sharing it here is the equivalent of owning some :)

Isn't this stuff cool? It's kind of like J.Crew jewelry on steroids.  But unlike at J.Crew, each of these pieces is one of a kind.

cuppow

There are few things I truly love in this world.  (That's a total lie, I love TONS of things, but for the sake of this post, let's just go with it.)  The two things at the top of the list?  Coffee and mason jars.  And now, I can have them both. To go.  Cuppow!

How cool is that? The list of things I love just got a new #1.  I can't wait to try this out.

four eyes cool

:::i'm taking inspiration from her, her, and atticus finch:::
Today I have an optometrist appointment. I'm really excited to get my new glasses prescription, because I've been needing a new pair for awhile now. I think I'm going to try out some from Warby Parker, the brand that seems to be the ultimate in "nerdy-cool" glasses. They're only $95 for the frames and lenses, AND (like my favorite brand of shoes) for ever pair of glasses purchased, they give a pair to someone in need. Does it get any better than that?

:::just a small sampling of the women's opticals at Warby Parker:::

Since I can't get to one of their stores, I'll just order 3 pairs for free try on. And then ship back the two I don't like for free. Ah, it's so easy....well, minus that whole choosing which pair to buy part. Sigh. Any suggestions? I'm kind of into these, these, and these.

right now

:::source:::

Hey! Can you believe it's already February 3?! February kind of has a bad rap. I think it's because people are sick of the cold and February is just one more thing between them and springtime.  However, February is also great in many ways.  Like Ground Hog Day and Valentine's Day and a lot of other weird/made up holidays like Presidents' Day. Plus, it's black history month.  OH, and it's my birth month.  No big deal or anything.  It's not like I take it personally every time you hate on February.  It's cool.

So in honor of this being my birth month, I'm going to post some random pictures today.  There's no rhyme or reason to them, other than that I like them all right now.

super bowl party

The Super Bowl is this weekend and it promises to be a good one.  The Pats face the Giants again, hopefully to a better outcome this time (I'm a Pats fan, in case you couldn't tell).  Patriots fanness aside, everybody knows the most important part of a Super Bowl party are the snacks.  Here are a few recipes from around the web that look especially delicious (and not too complicated, so you'll have plenty of time to cheer on your favorite team)!

a pastel spring

I wrote a post for The Loud and Clear on Monday about how pastels are going to be huge this spring for interiors.  I've been so into them lately, that I thought I'd share a few more pictures with you here.  It was almost 70 degrees in Kansas City. We haven't had much of a winter here, and while I do love a good snowfall, I'm willing to sacrifice it just this once. Bring on spring!

Ahhhh. Those painted tolix chairs are possibly the best thing I've seen in a long time.  Obsessed. And even after a mild non-existant winter, all of this color feels so fresh and envigorating.  Don't you think?
