you down with hbc, yeah you know me

Three months ago, you couldn't have paid me to stay in the snowy mountains a day longer.  I was beyond ready for a long overdue spring.  Coming to Kansas City, with all of it's greenery and flowers felt like such a treat!  Now, after a week or more (who's counting, really?) of heat in the upper 90s or even higher, I would give pretty much anything for snow.  The grass is always greener on the other side.

When I step out into the sauna of Kansas City, sometimes I try to think about things like this to keep me sane:

Les Trois Vallées, French Alps

And when I think about that, immediately my mind drifts to Hudson Bay Company point blankets.  I'm sorry, I just can't help myself.  There is just something about those stripes that makes my heart beat a little faster (I'm not even exaggerating).

Aren't the blankets beautiful? The contrast of the blanket and the modern white decor in the first picture really gets me...as does the yellow painted bed frame in the second and those dark grey walls in the third - what a classy take on rustic decor! I guess a blanket on a bed would be the most obvious use for your HBC point, but people do get pretty inventive.

I love those chairs! And the Jamie Douglas painting, pictured last.  There are others too in this series (click the link!), but I like the ones with the little point lines the best. Of course there is also HBC-style apparel, so I don't have to go a moment without getting my stripe fix.

Wouldn't you just love to walk around in that scarf?  It would go so well with so many coats, with the exception maybe of the one pictured below it.  But I think that coat is so much fun too!  While these are quite wintery items, I have even come across some summertime images, proof that these stripes are awesome no matter what time of year it is.

This last image is from Katy Elliott - apparently when she tweeted it everyone wanted to know where she got her blanket.  Turns out it's a tablecloth (perfect for the summer/a picnic!) and she found it for $2 at a thrift store in none other than Maine!! Ugh, what I would give to call that mine.  I'm on the hunt for a tablecloth like this to call my own.

um p.s. check this out!  the bay - amazing!
